MOTORHEAD
Depois de ser expulso da banda progressiva, pesada e psicodélica Hawkwind, por ter ficado retido nos EUA por porte de drogas em uma turnê do grupo ao país, o vocalista e baixista Lemmy Kilminster formou, em meados dos anos 70, o grupo Motörhead, gíria para viciados em anfetaminas, que era o nome de sua última música pelo antigo grupo, com Larry WalIis nas guitarras e Lucas Fox na bateria.
Insatisfeito com os outros integrantes, que considerava muito ruins, Lemmy reformulou a banda chamando o baterista Philty ‘Animal’ Taylor e o guitarrista Fast Eddie Clarke, fazendo história com esta formação recebendo o título de “a mais barulhenta do mundo”. Seis anos mais tarde, o som criado pelo grupo passou a ser conhecido como trash metal.
Seu primeiro disco chamou-se “On Parole” (76), ainda com Larry na guitarra. Depois, seguiram-se “Motõrhead” (1977) e o legendário “Overkill” (1978), que transformou o grupo em um dos mais cultuados da época, mantendo-os no topo do “European Hard-Rock-charts”.
Neste ano o Motörhead emplacou o primeiro ‘hit’ na Inglaterra com “Louie Louie”, abrindo caminho para o enorme sucesso que viria depois. Caracterizado pelos vocais guturais, Lemmy logo tornou-se uma marca registrada do grupo, conquistando seus fãs com um som pesado, que agradou a “metaleiros” e punks.
Com o mesmo nível dos álbuns anteriores, o grupo confirmou, através dos trabalhos seguintes, sua posição no cenário musical como um dos mais respeitados e queridos grupos de heavy metal. Assim foi com “Bomber” (1979), “Ace of Spades” (1980) e com o antológico “No Sleep Til Hammersmith” (1981).
O ano de 1982 foi um dos piores para o Motörhead, que enfrentou a saída de Eddie Clark no meio de uma turnê que realizavam para o lançamento de “Iron Fist”. No seu lugar entrou Brian Robertson (ex-Thin Lizzy), quando lançaram “Another Perfect Day” (1983). Os problemas continuaram e o grupo foi obrigado a ficar três anos sem lançar nenhum disco, devido a desavenças com a gravadora. Dois anos depois, Philty Taylor e Robertson deixam o grupo e Lemmy tem que recomeçar praticamente do zero.
Com Pete Gill na bateria, PhiS “Zoomster” Campbell e Wurzel nas guitarras, a banda voltou aos bons tempos lançando, em 1986 um dos mais famosos discos do grupo, o clássico “Orgasmatron”. Já refeitos da crise, lançaram “Rock And Roll” (1987), que marca a volta de Philty Animal às baquetas. Neste mesmo ano, gravaram a trilha sonora e atuaram no filme “Eat the Rich”, no qual Lemmy fez um dos papéis principais.
Seguiram-se “No Sleep at AlI” (1988), “The Birthday Party” (1990) e “1916”, de 1991, responsável pela conquista de um status a altura da qualidade da banda, representando para os fãs e críticos um marco na desenvolvimento do potencial do grupo.
Philty Taylor saiu pela segunda vez da banda em 1992, ano do lançamento do disco “March or Die”, seu último registro com o grupo, que passou a contar com a bateria de Mikkey Dee (ex-King Diamond e Don Dokken), antigo conhecido de Lemmy. O álbum seguinte foi “Bastards”. Após seu lançamento, o guitarrista Mick Wurzel abandonou a banda, que voltou a ser apenas um trio. Em 1996 lançaram “Overnight Sensation” e no primeiro semestre de 1998 saiu “Snake Bite Love.
Comemorando os 25 anos da banda, em 2000, a gravadora editou uma coletânea dupla intitulada “Best of Motörhead”. Também foi registrado um show com várias participações especiais como a de Brian May, Doro, entre outros que saiu em DVD sob o título de “Boneshaker”, em 2001, além de um CD ao vivo gravado no Brixton Academy.
No ano seguinte chega “Hammered”. Produzido por Bob Kulick (Meat Loaf, W.A.S.P.) e Bob Marlette em Los Angeles, o álbum é considerado pelos fãs um dos melhores de toda a carreira do grupo mostrando que, apesar do tempo, o trio Lemmy, Mikkey Dee e Phillip Campbell ainda estão em plena forma. Dee, aliás, gravou a bateria de “Rabbits Don’t Come Easy”, do Helloween, substituindo às pressas Mark Cross que teve problemas de saúde, ainda em 2002.
A formação se manteve firme e a banda lançou mais dois álbuns ao vivo e os inéditos “Inferno” de 2004 e “Kiss of Death” de 2006, sempre seguidos de turnês com shows concorridos.
